Good Guys Bad Guys Contractors — protecting homeowners across Canada 🇨🇦 and the USA 🇺🇸 from contractor fraud, negligence, and scams.
GGBGC was founded by homeowners who experienced contractor fraud firsthand. We lost thousands of dollars to contractors who took our money and disappeared, did shoddy work, or simply never showed up.
We built this platform because we believe sunlight is the best disinfectant. When communities share their experiences openly, bad actors can no longer simply move on to their next victim. Every report you submit protects the next homeowner.
Always get at least 3 quotes before hiring. If one is drastically cheaper, be cautious.
Before hiring anyone, search their name and company on GGBGC to check for past reports.
Ask for their contractor license number and verify it with your province or state registry.
Always confirm they carry liability insurance and WSIB/Workers Comp before work begins.
Never pay without a signed contract that lists the scope, timeline, and total price.
Never pay more than 10–15% upfront. Pay the rest only when the work is completed.
Strong evidence helps your report get approved faster and makes it more helpful to others.
Never share personal information like home addresses, phone numbers, or social security numbers. We automatically hide detected phone numbers and emails from public reports.
Keep your report factual. No slurs, threats, or discriminatory language of any kind. Reports violating this policy will be removed immediately.
Report only what actually happened. Exaggeration or false claims will result in removal and may expose you to legal liability.
Critique the work and business practices, not personal characteristics. Your report should help other homeowners make informed hiring decisions.
Submit one report per contractor incident. Duplicate reports for the same incident will be merged or removed by our review team.
If you're a contractor and believe a report about you is false or inaccurate, you can request a review through our dispute process.
Submit a dispute request with your full name, company name, and the URL of the report you are disputing.
Provide evidence supporting your position — such as a signed contract, completion photos, or communication records.
Our team reviews both sides within 10 business days and makes a final determination.
If your dispute is upheld, the report will be removed or amended. You may also submit a public response to be posted alongside the original report.
